Incidence of HBsAg in Medical Personnels

Abstract
|
|
|
Screening test of serum HBsAg by counterimmunoelectrophoresis was performed to evaluate the incidence of HBsAg in medical personnel(doctor 53, nurse 158, and laboratory technician 110) of hospitals located in Chonnam and Chonbuk areas. HBsAg positivity was analysed by the age, sex and hospital carrier.
The results obtained were as follows.
1. Incidence of HBsAg in whole medical personnel was 3.4%, that was 1.9% in nurses, 1.9 / in doctors. Incidence of laboratory technician was, however, 6.4%, showing the marked increase than those of nurses and doctors.
2. By age, the high incidence of HBsAg was shown in the third decade of nurses and doctors, but thatt of laboratory technicians in fourth decades.
3. By the duration of hospital duty(hospital carrier), the, high incidence of HBsAg was seen in the medical personel(doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians under 5 years hospital carrier.
